Community Outreach and Missions
Our Mission: ‘To go in peace, to love and serve.’
- At Church our spirit is fed by the ‘word’ and sacrament, and by our whole life in the St Paul’s community. We ‘go in peace’ — with enlivened faith.
- We ‘go to love and serve’. We go with hope to embrace the opportunities in our daily lives — at home and work, in the local community and beyond.
- Each of us will carry and give expression to the Spirit of Christ in a unique way, to take our part in building ‘the new City of God’.
Living and Serving in the local community
Most members of St Paul’s live in the local community and we encourage involvement and service in our schools, sporting clubs and scouts, the arts, conservation groups and in caring for those in need.
Parishioners have many and varied gifts and passions. God Spirit ‘calls’ us accordingly. Some parishioners love and want to conserve God’s garden here in Kew.
Ecumenical Cooperation
St Paul’s values the opportunity to share and work positively with local Churches and other faith groups.
We join in local ministry activities, prayer services and community activities.
Local Ministries
Kew East Primary School
Parishioners join with members of other churches to offer CRE (Christian Religious Education) at KEPS.
Kew High School Chaplaincy
Parishioners are involved with staff, parents and other church people in supporting this ministry.
The Parish makes a generous annual grant to help fund the position.
Parkland Close Home
Parishioners regularly visit residents to offer the blessings of a Holy Communion service and to enjoy friendship over afternoon tea.
Wider Mission: to increase Care, Opportunity and Justice
Anglicare Victoria
Anglicare brings Care and Opportunity to disadvantaged Victorians.
Parishioners donate food each week which is then taken to Anglicare’s Mission House in Fitzroy for distribution.
St Paul’s also makes a direct financial offering each year.
The Brotherhood of St Laurence
The Brotherhood of St Laurence is affiliated with the Anglican Church and offers direct assistance to people who are disadvantaged and undertakes research and advocacy on their behalf.
St Paul’s has a BSL clothing recycle bin and encourages parish support.
AngliCORD Australia
AngliCORD Australia is a visionary, hands-on and efficient Body of the Australia Church that directly partners overseas Anglican Church communities in bringing ‘Relief and Development’ to the poorest of their people.
The Anglican Board of Mission
ABM works in partnership with local communities to bring ‘Good News’ and Development especially to Aborigines & people’s of the South pacific and PNG.
St Paul’s parish directly funds a particular ABM project — this year we are helping fund medical services and ‘health worker training’ among highland people in PNG.
The Parish makes an annual grant and parishioners raise extra money through stalls, boxes and Lenten envelopes and the Guild have an afternoon tea.
We share in the Church’s Mission
- to proclaim Christ
- to nurture faith
- to care
- to seek justice
- to care for God’s creation
